MSPs visit Standard Life for Introductory Programme

Five MSPs today attended an introduction to Standard Life – presented by the Scottish Parliament & Business Exchange.  Wendy Alexander MSP, Margaret Smith MSP,  Maureen Watt MSP, David Whitton MSP, and Derek Brownlee MSP visited Standard Life’s headquarters on Lothian Road in order to gain a greater understanding of the direction and future priorities of one of Scotland’s key financial institutions.

The morning session was focused around a number of interactive meetings with Standard Life’s executive team which covered business strategy, pensions policy, and economic and investment issues. 

Following some very productive and constructive discussions the MSPs then attended a roundtable lunch hosted by David Nish, Standard Life’s Chief Executive.

Speaking after the visit, Wendy Alexander MSP said:

“Scotland's financial community has never been far from the headlines in recent years. The chance for parliamentarians to engage with Scotland's largest corporation facilitates understanding, dialogue and debate.”
