Board Biography – Gavin Brown

Appointed as a Director of SPBE in September 2007.

Appointed as Convenor of SPBE in June 2008.

Gavin is a member of the Scottish Conservative & Unionist Party. Gavin is also the Shadow Minister for Enterprise , Energy & Tourism. Gavin sits on the Economy Committee. He is also Co-Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Skills.

Prior to being elected, Gavin founded a training business with a range of clients around the world. In 2004 he won an award for ‘Most Outstanding Trainer in the World'. Before that he was a solicitor at one of Scotland 's most respected legal firms.

In his spare time Gavin takes part in Tae Kwon-Do (he holds a black belt and is former Scottish gold medalist). Gavin likes long distance running and has completed the Edinburgh Marathon.

He lives in Edinburgh with his wife Hilary who is a primary school teacher and their young daughter Ava.
